Fit to be Tied

Not only does a pretty flowing bow or a jauntily tied grosgrain ribbon instantly convey a feminine touch, it also makes any item seem like a gift.

Perhaps that’s what beauty and fragrance brands have had in mind over the past several months (and decades) as they have adorned fragrance bottles and cosmetics with the iconic girly touch. In some cases, the packages, themselves, are actually bows.
So whether women are the recipients, gifting themselves or presenting to others—the “wrapping” of the “package” speaks for itself. Here, we present some that have caught our eye - and all with a feminine pinkish hue.
Most recently, brands have tied in (pun intended) their models’ apparel in advertising campaigns with the fragrance bottle design. The muses for both Viktor & Rolf’s Bonbon and Estée Lauder’s Modern Muse are actually clothed in garments adorned with bows, adding emphasis to the bow-like bottles.
Voluminous bows have become synonymous with Juicy Couture fragrances, and the limited edition Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Noir is no exception. It’s available in metallic pink flacons with a black satin bow ribbon.
Victoria’s Secret Beauty also chose a flowing ribbon for Victoria by Victoria’s Secret—but in this instance, the adornment was metallized.
Design engineers sculpted the free flowing bow with an electronic stylus to make the bow appear as natural as any fabric would be.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the newest addition to the Chloé fragrance portfolio, Roses
de Chloé, hit store counters with a rosy essence as well as a rosy ribbon.

Perhaps the most iconic bow of all has been worn by Christian Dior’s fragrances since the 1940s.
Dior's new edition, Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, was presented in early January; this edition is decorated with a silver ribbon.
Ferragamo is another fashion house known for its incorporation of bows, and the tradition extends to its fragrances, which have included renditions from hard plastic to soft and wispy. For its new Spring 2014 launch, Signorina Eleganza, the brand tucks a pale pink ribbon atop a heavy glass bottle filled with matching juice.
And in keeping with the theme, Dior Beauty has launched a new bow compact for color cosmetics. Open or closed, it feels like a small gift when you reach for it in your purse.
