There’s a new mobile app that might soon be influencing beauty purchases - ShadeScout.

ShadeScout is a cosmetics color search mobile app, created by FaceCake Marketing Technologies. It enables consumers to find products in the colors that inspire them.

The company says the new app has the potential to chnage the way consumers shop for cosmetics. It combines FaceCake’s color search technology, signature Virtual Try-On capabilities and built-in purchase features, and creates an immersive shopping experience.

How does it work?

The app’s user capture any color they see, with their mobile device, like a celebrity’s lipstick in a magazine photo, for instance, or even a flower in a garden. Then, the app will quickly locate its cosmetic counterpart by sorting through an unlimited number of products from more than 40 beauty brands to deliver direct product matches in any makeup category.

Shoppers can find and virtually try on any product, then make a purchase directly from the app. Consumers can also take selfies, receive personalized recommendations, and get feedback from family and friends through the easy in-app social sharing option.

Linda Smith is the founder of FaceCake, which was selected as one of the “18 innovators to define 2015” at CES. The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
